SUSAN STANTON

The Beginning: Susan Stanton first discovered the magic of photography while still in school. She won various competitions and placed highly in the National Scholastic Art Awards Program. Upon graduation, she was given a full scholarship in photography, but chose to persue a career in business and pharmacy.

The Transition: Susan owned and operated her own business for over a decade, but she missed her creative outlet. In 1998, her husband surprised her with a new camera ... and she hasn’t put it down since! Having fallen in love with WNC while on vacation, she sold her business in 2002, relocated to WNC to follow her dream -- a career in photography.

Today: Susan is currently working as a photographer in WNC. Her work has appeared in Our State Magazine, The Laurel of Asheville, The Laurel of Highlands,  Rapid River Magazine and the Citizen-Times, to name but a fewSusan’s fine art prints have been on display at the Biltmore Estate, Asheville Area Arts Council, Black Mountain Center for the Arts, Gallery 86, Pack Place, Hand in Hand Gallery, Woolwroth Walk and Bluewood Gallery. She is a founding member of the Southern Appalachian Photographers Guild, sits on the steering committee of f/32 Photography Group of Asheville, and is a member of Carolina Nature Photographers Association.  Her work can be found in galleries across the region..
